Best Known For Coyotes are well known for their bold and resourceful nature.
Life Span 10 to 15 years
Mating Season Coyotes usually mate for life. Breeding begins in January and lasts till March. Unlike other animals, males are typically sterile for 8-9 months out of the year and females are fertile for 10 months.
Reproductive Details The gestation period lasts around 63 days. On average, females give birth to 6 pups per litter although not all survive due to environmental factors.
Dispersal This usually varies and has no specific time of year or age when dispersal takes place. It is simply dependent on whether a coyote chooses to become a "beta" (coyotes that stay on family territory) or are driven out by the pack.
Habitat Coyotes live in plains or mountainous regions. They are also accustomed to living in deserts or prairies.
